REQUIRED FORMS - VERY IMPORTANT !!!!!!!

In order for your child to swim we must receive three forms completed and signed by you.  These three forms are:

    1. CDD Waiver of Liability
    2. Concussion Form
    3. Medical Information form

These forms are attached in this email.  Please print, fill out, and sign these forms and bring them with you to the parent meeting this Saturday and/or Monday.  We can't stress the importance of having these forms completed.

    MANDATORY PARENT MEETING

We will be having mandatory parent meetings this Saturday during your child’s practice session. For example if you child practices 7:15-8:15 then we will host the parent meeting in the social hall during that time.  If you will not be at practice Saturday, we will have another parent meeting on Monday night (May 2nd) at 5pm in the south pool social hall.

VOLUNTEER TRAINING – STROKE AND TURN JUDGE

Every year we ask for as many of you as possible to get trained as a Stroke & Turn judge.  Many of you have signed up for this job throughout the season but we ask that more of you get trained just so we have a good pool of certified parents as back ups.  The league hosts trainings for this job that are mandatory if you are going to be a Stroke & Turn judge.  Below is the sign up genius for you to sign up for the training date that works best for you.  FYI, the league is doing a Stroke & Turn training at our pool in May if you don’t want to travel to another pool. Please sign up for one of the training dates.  This only takes about an hour.

    PRACTICE EQUIPMENT

If you are new to swimming you may be wondering what is needed for swim practice.

Swim Suit - We ask that your children where a one piece race style swim suit at all times.  For girls this mean no swim suits with ruffles or any attachments and no bikinis. For boys this means they wear jammer (spandex like shorts).  Both of these types of suits can be found at your local sporting goods store. Recommended brands are Speedo, Nike, TYR. Your kids may also wear their team suit to practice if they want.  We will hand these out at the first practice.

Goggles - Your kids will be required to wear goggles while in the water  Please make sure these are racing goggles and not the scuba mask style.  These can be purchased at your local sporting goods store.  We recommend you purchase 2-3 pairs to have back ups just in case the straps break.

Caps - We will pass out silicone caps to the kids at practice.  Please make sure they wear caps at all practices and meets

Kick Fins - This is not required but is recommended.  This year coaches have asked if the kids could bring swim fins (for their feet) with them to practice.  The recommend kind is the "short blade fins" which can be purchased at Williamson athletics or online at swimoutlet.com.  Again this is not mandatory but fins will significantly help with the kicking technique as your children develop.

Towel - Please bring a towel to practices for your child

Training shoes - Prior to getting in the pool the kids will be warming up in the field which means they will be doing plyometric style exercises. Thus, please make sure your kids have tennis shoes on to avoid injury.  To many kids are bare foot and this is bad for their feet and ankles.

Misc - Summer in Florida is hot.  Please make sure your children bring a water bottle to practices.  Please also make sure you spray your kids down with sunscreen every day.

Again sorry for the long email.  We are excited that the season is here. See you all on the pool deck!
