    Swim Team- All the Things!

What is the Dolphins summer swim team? We are a Durbin Crossing resident only team. We pride ourselves in having the most fun of any team and reward personal performance in a fun and creative way. Our season runs April 24-July 15.

Does my child need swim experience? Swimmers must just be able to show they can swim on their bellies for one length of the pool and show awareness on their backs.  We leave the stroke development to the coaches and they are great at that!

What time are practices? During the school year practices are in the afternoon/evenings on weekdays and Saturday mornings.  During the summer we practice one evening a week and the other days are in the morning.  Saturdays become meet only days.

Do I have to attend all practices? No! We know schedules are crazy and you want to enjoy your summer too.  All practices are optional and most swimmers do not attend every practice in a week.  The best part of summer swim for parents is its flexibility.

Do we have to attend meets? No. Although we encourage it, like practices, meets are not required.

Why do I have to volunteer? We are 100% volunteer run and without our volunteers we wouldn't be successful. If you have a child that doesn't want to attend meets, let us know. We have a few spots that may work for you.

I work, how do I manage practices and work? We have many parents that bring their laptops to the pool and work from there.  We also encourage carpooling with neighbors to ease the practice commitment from one family.

Why is the swim team so important to so many Durbin residents? Our children built lasting friendships on the summer pool deck.  What starts as practice, leads to extra play time at the pool.  When our kids walk into their classroom for the next year, they often times see friendly swim team faces in their same classroom.  It helps ease those first day jitters!
