    Practice Starts Tomorrow!

It's finally time!!! Tomorrow we officially kick off the summer swim season with our first day of practice! We are keeping an eye on the weather so please see how to sign up for text alerts below.

We will be taking attendance at the front gate as you enter the pool. We recommend that swimmers wear face masks during the check in process. You will receive your swimmer’s cap and a team magnet when you check in. We are required to take attendance at every practice so please get in the habit of checking in with the attendance captain or board member when you enter the pool each practice day.

    Parent Meetings - TOMORROW!

All parents, new and returning, should plan to attend the parent meeting that corresponds with the time of your child's swim practice. If you have more than one age group swimmer, you only need to attend one of the parent meetings...the content will be the same in all meetings. This meeting is required of all parents and an important part of setting up a smooth summer swim season! We will be reviewing expectations, how to RSVP for meets, and volunteer roles & responsibilities.

Age Group Practice Time Parent Meeting Time
    6 & Under 4:30 - 5:15 pm 4:45 pm
    7 & 8 yr old's 5:15 - 6:15 pm 5:30 pm
    9 & 10 yr old's 6:15 - 7:15 pm 6:30 pm
    11 & older 7:15 - 8:30 pm 7:30 pm

We will also be selling used swimsuits and leftover spirit wear for $5 an item. Please bring cash, we cannot accept credit cards.

    Practice - What to Expect

Please make sure your swimmer comes dressed in his or her swimsuit and brings goggles, a towel for after, water and sunscreen. We will be distributing team swim caps when you arrive tomorrow. Older age groups might be requested to bring fins, but they are not required for tomorrow's practice. All swimmers *must* have goggles.

The first fifteen (15) minutes of every practice, including tomorrow, will be spent in the field doing "dry land" (warm ups and exercises) so make sure that your swimmer wears comfortable & supportive footwear to reduce risk of injuries. After that, swimmers will return quickly to the pool deck to take off their shoes & socks, grab their goggles and swim cap and head to the water.

The first few days of practice can be a little chaotic while coaches meet their swimmers and swimmers catch on to the routine. We ask that you have patience as everyone learns the routine. To help coaches learn swimmer's names, we are asking parents to please write your child's name on their shoulder so coaches and junior coaches can start learning names. If you could do this for the next few practices, it would be greatly appreciated! If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to find a board member during practice.

    CDD Policies

We are grateful to the CDD for their ongoing support of the swim team. We are able to maintain this positive relationship by adhering to their policies and the rules that we have agreed to abide by. The most important rules are:

    • All swimmer under twelve (12) years old must be accompanied by a parent or person thirteen (13) years old or over. Swimmer’s age twelve (12) and under are not permitted to be dropped off at swim practice. A parent, guardian, or responsible older sibling must be on deck while they are participating in practice. We encourage carpooling with neighbors to swim practice with one adult bringing multiple swimmers.
    • Please bring your access card to enter the pool every time you come to swim practice. With the continued growth of our community, the amenity staff does not know everyone on the swim team. Please bring your key card to open the gate every time you come to practice so the swim team is not constantly disrupting them to open the gate.
    • The recreation side of the pool is NOT open for free swim on Mondays during swim practice! Swimmers are not permitted to free swim before or after practice, and siblings are not permitted to free swim during practice. We recognize that this is a hard rule to follow, just as it's a hard rule to enforce, but it is a requirement of our agreement with the CDD and we appreciate our swim families complying with this rule!

    Weather Alert Sign Up

We have a new weather alert system! Please text the code "@dcdswim21" to 81010 to sign up for our weather alert texts! When we must cancel practice due to storms (and it's guaranteed to happen more than once), this text alert is our first means of alerting parents.

There are 2 different schedules attached to this email to help you keep track of practice days and times.

We are so excited that the season is finally here! See you on the pool deck tomorrow!
