DC Dolphins Swim Team Starts Tomorrow
Good evening!
Tomorrow is the big day! The start of our 2020 swim team season. The Board, Coaches, and Jr. Coaches met this evening to do a walk through of our new plan. I am not going to lie; things will be different from previous years. Just know that we have worked extremely hard to create a safe plan with each of your children in mind. Think of tomorrow like the first day of school. The students and teachers are all nervous. This first week will be filled with getting used to the new groups, the new schedule, and the new rules. Once week two begins, we will all have a better routine and feel more comfortable. Here are some last-minute tips and reminders.
- 1.Don’t forget to bring your COVID-19 waivers tomorrow to practice.
- 2.Please arrive no more than 5 minutes before your child’s practice time. Line up outside the front gate on the striped lines until you are asked to enter the front gate. At the check in table you will receive your child’s swim cap, NEW team car magnet, and will be asked to turn in your waivers.
- 3.Each swimmer will be assigned a chair number. This is their “stick and stay” spot. They will go and await further instructions from the Coaches. This allows us to keep all the children in their group, but at a 6-foot distance. They only need their swim cap, goggles and labeled water bottle at their chair. Do not forget to apply sunscreen before them come. They will get hand sanitizer on the way to their assigned chair.
- 4.Please encourage your children to listen carefully to the directions of the Coaches and Jr. Coaches. It is also especially important that they know they cannot hug their friends during practice. They must stay in their own space as much as possible.
- 5.During practice it is important that parents allow the Coaches to do their job. Please do not talk to or confront Coaches during practice. Both of our Coaches have a tremendous amount of experience. We are so blessed to have them! If you are new to swim team, it is important that you know the first few weeks will look like organized chaos. It will all click! If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to talk to a Board member. You will be able to find us because we will have orange lanyards on. Also, feel free to email the president, Kim Smith at [email protected] with any concerns.
- 6.Please see the attached pdf that shows the names and faces of the Board members and Coaches. Since we will have our masks on a lot of the time, we want to make sure you know what we look like without them. We are always here to help!
- 7.If you are still in need of goggles or swim suits, you can shop online at https://www.swimoutlet.com/durbincrossingdolphins/. This site gives our team a small kick back from sales.
- 8.For groups E and F, your swimmer will be assigned a kick board for the season. We will assign you a numbered kick board that you will bring to and take home each practice. Once the season is over, we will collect them.
- 9.At the end of practice, everyone must exit the back of the swim deck.
We know this is a lot. Please be patient with us all. We are excited to get things started by providing a safe and fun outlet for your kids to get some exercise and swim training this summer.
See you tomorrow!
