HOME MEET INFORMATION: Julington Creek @ Durbin - Saturday, June 8
Hi Parents,
Our second home meet of the season is just around the corner and we are looking forward to hosting the Julington Creek Porpoises! This will be one of our biggest meets of the season and a great opportunity to show off our strong swimming and good sportsmanship against the largest team in the league!
Attached to this email you will find three documents:
- Heat Sheet - Print a copy of this to bring with you to the meet so you can follow along with the meet. There may be changes before Saturday, but unless it impacts your swimmer, this version will work for you. If your swimmer is impacted by an event/heat change, you will hear from Meredith or Andrew Connell or your coach.
- Entry List - Please review the entries for your swimmer(s) ASAP and reply to this email if there are any concerns, questions, or issues with them! Do not wait until Saturday morning!!!
- Parking zones & deck map - Parking will be our biggest challenge during this meet. If you can, please drive your stuff up to the field and then return home to park your car and walk, bike or carpool back up to the pool. The fewer cars we can have at the pool the better. Remember if you have to park on the street, do not block driveways, crosswalks, roadways or fire hydrants. Please don't park on both sides of the street. Please abide by all parking signs and parking marshalls. Because of the size of the meet, parking really will be at a premium, so if you have ever wanted to carpool with neighbors, this is the meet to do it!
The timeline for the morning is:
Swimmer and Volunteer Check-in**: 6:15 to 6:30 am
Durbin Crossing Warm-Ups: 6:45 to 7:15 am
Julington Creek Warm-Ups: 7:15 to 7:45 am
Meet Starts: 8:00 am
**IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT YOUR SWIMMERS CHECK IN BY 6:30 AM! IF YOUR SWIMMER DOES NOT CHECK IN, THEY ARE AT RISK OF BEING SCRATCHED FROM THE MEET.**
**Even if you are a second-half volunteer, we need to you check in first thing in the morning so we can confirm we have all of the volunteers we need to work the meet. If you are interested in working a different session than what you have signed up for, just let Steve Moore know when you check in on Saturday morning.**
If you need a refresher on items to bring, how to mark your swimmer, where to set up, or anything else first time meet related, please check out this overview that should answer many of your questions.
We will have three food trucks providing food and beverages for the meet. Back to the Grind Coffee Truck will be fueling your caffeine needs. JoySchtick (burgers) will be onsite around 10 am. Kona Ice will be selling shaved ice. In addition to that we will have a limited concession stand offering water, Gatorade, candy and donuts. Should your swimmer and family need other options for food, please bring your own! It is going to be another hot day, so bring plenty of fluids to keep your family hydrated!
Friday Night Meet Set Up Crew: If you are signed up to assist with set up on Friday night, please plan to meet at the pool at 9:00 pm tomorrow night. The pool is open until 10 pm now, but there are things that we can do in advance that will not disturb any residents that are swimming that late. Many hands make light work and with everyone there on time, we should be able to knock it out quickly. Should we be able to meet earlier than that, you will get a message to come earlier. We have to wait until the majority of the pool deck is cleared off before we begin working.
Weather Issues: We are watching the weather closely as Saturday approaches with predictions of rain. If we are forced to cancel the meet due to weather, we will send out a RainedOut text message alert so please make sure you are signed up! Sign up now.
Remember to wear your team shirts, team suits and swim caps on Saturday morning to show your Dolphin spirit!
GO DOLPHINS!
