Heritage Landing v Durbin Crossing - Results
Congratulations Dolphins on another awesome meet! Despite the heat, we saw some excellent swimming today with lots of kids dropping times and earning Tootsie Pops from Coach Ed! Keep up the good work, swimmers!
Attached are the results of the meet today. A few notes:
- As you review the results and look for your swimmers, you might see a "DQ" next to their name. This means that the stroke & turn judge who was watching them swim observed something in their swimming that was incorrect for the particular stroke that they were swimming and they were disqualified from the event. This week, DQs were judged on starts, turns and finishes. Beginning next week, the entire swim will be judged. The coaches use these DQ slips as information to help them coach swimmers on techniques & form to help them improve week over week. It's a great opportunity for swimmers to learn from their mistakes and how to swim a "legal" stroke. Please do not consider a DQ as a bad thing for your swimmer, but rather an opportunity for growth. Even the best swimmers get DQd! If you have questions about what your swimmer specifically did that resulted in the DQ, please reach out to your child's coach as they have all the slips that were turned in during the meet.
- Additionally, as you may have noticed last week, the majority of swimmers have a small "x" next to their names. A lowercase x means that the swimmer did not score points. The notation in the report is as a result of a scoring change that was implemented league-wide this year to create more parity in competition between teams. Points are awarded to the top three (3) finishers from each team in each event. This does not impact ribbons or personal records.
If you have not RSVPd for your swimmer(s) for the meet at South Hampton coming up this Saturday, June 9th, please take a moment to do that right now! Believe it or not, coaches will begin working on entries soon!
Go Dolphins!
